Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on a three-day visit to Macau from Wednesday to Friday, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the territory’s reversion from Portuguese to Chinese rule. During this visit, President Xi will officially swear in Sam Ho-fai as the new chief executive of Macau, in a ceremony scheduled for Friday. Mr. Ho, a former chief judge who emerged as the sole candidate in the recent election, will succeed Ho Iat-shing, who opted not to seek re-election due to health reasons. Throughout his visit, President Xi will also engage in inspections of the city.
Macau, known for its vibrant casino industry, was handed back to China from Portuguese administration in December 1999.
